WHEN I LOOK FOR A MAN

It's like shopping for clothes
He has to fit well and
compliment my figure
Feel right against my skin
and not shrink when
things get too hot
He should be as memorable
as a book when I am through
Worth telling my friends about
Someone I'd like to read again
and again
He should be like a car
with good maneuverability
Needs a good heater and
surface hugging capabilities
no matter what the climate
Should be easy to steer
and be void of any leaks
that need immediate attention
No noisy exhaust tho headers
are not without merit
I don't mind a previous owner
as long as the mileage
wasn't rough
and when he parks in my
garage
He better damned sure
be there in the morning
It's an easy check list
that I carry with me
whenever I go shopping
I don't kick the tires
because you can always
just buy
new rubber

      Cheryl A Townsend used to publish IMPETUS...now she just collects the poetry and answers disgruntled mail from the senders. Ahh. She runs cat's Impetuous Books in Kent, OH...where she also pretends to be doing business. She does a lot of photography and thinks that's where all her poetic vision went. She is probably fatter than the last time you saw her.
